"The Journey is the Destination: Safari with Dan Eldon"

Featuring limited edition prints from the journals of Dan Eldon, some on offer for the first time.

Dan's art is in the private collections of Diana Rockefeller, Madonna, Christiane Amanpour, Rosie O'Donnell, Julia Roberts and Heath Ledger, among many others.

Since the traveling exhibit was first launched in 1995, Dan Eldon's gallery show "Journey: Images of War/Celebrations of Peace" has traveled to six countries, opened by four heads of state. Journalists Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw spoke at Reuters-sponsored shows at Columbia University and Duke University. The expanded exhibit, funded by Kodak, has been featured at many universities, including the University of California at Santa Barbara, Wellesley and Boston College, as well as at the prestigious Hamilton Gallery in London and the Gallery Watatu in Nairobi, Kenya.

A large collection of Dan's work opened at the Chelsea Warehouse Gallery, featuring prints of Dan's journal pages, videos and slide projections on the surrounding rooftop water towers. Although there was little promotion, more than a thousand people attended, flocking to the show on the strength of the interest in Dan, and word of mouth. Julia Roberts, Anderson Cooper, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Clare Danes were in attendance.

The success of that exhibit led to the establishment of the Dan Eldon Gallery, sited within the Candela Decker on Crosby Street in NY, which was devoted exclusively to Dan's work. The New York Times covered the exhibit with a half-page Style feature.

The new Dan Eldon pop-up gallery has traveled to college campuses and other venues across America.

LACMA approached Kathy Eldon, Founder of the Creative Visions Foundation with a request to make the journals a part of their permanent collection. The journals were housed at the museum for several years before the Eldons requested them to be returned to make them more accessible for traveling exhibits.

Kathy commented "We are beyond excited to kick off our new feature film about Dan's life with the Objects of Art exhibit. The Journey is the Destination: Safari with Dan Eldonreflects so brilliantly his embrace of life, love and all its adventures."
